New Wheels

Today I went grocery shopping, and when I was done, I loaded my groceries in my (Bob Barker voice goes here) NEW CAR! It's my new car, because Brian is still in denial about owning a mini van. Here's the conversation we had when we were deciding to buy it:

Brian: Do you want it?

Carrie: Yeah, I think I do.

Brian: But it's a mini van.

Carrie: Brian, half of your friends have mini vans.

Brian: Yeah, and we all make fun of them.

So Brian and I are joining the ranks of all those parents with mini vans. I love it. It's a '97 Honda Odyssey, and the doors are swinging doors like a normal car, not sliding doors like other mini vans have. I actually really like that. We bought it from a couple of teachers who live here in Forest Grove. In Fact, the wife is Porter Lofgran's kindergarten teacher. They were both very nice, and it is a very nice car. So we're good.

We had that same conversation in our house before we bought our minivan but after driving it awhile he is now converted. Comfort is not overrated. You'll love it.

I want a mini-van! There is no shame in having one. I am jealous. :)

Wahoo! Welcome to the minivan ranks. I couldn't stand the thought of having a van either, but I must say I sure love it! I don't know how I'd ever manage without it as a mother to 3 kiddos!
By the way I'm with you about the opening doors. The sliding ones are convenient if they open automatically like ours do, but they are SO expensive to fix when they break and they tend to break down ALL the time! I wouldn't mind ones like yours.
Congrats on the new wheels!

Yay for you! Ours is a '96 of the same model (actually its an Isuzu Oasis, but it was made by Honda, so the only difference is the name). We really like it, its taken us all over the country, quite literally. I love the doors and windows that roll down, I think its one of the few early model vans that have foldaway back seats too. A very good purchase! Ethan did ALL sorts of research before our buy and this was the best for the money... way to go!

Wahoo! Minivan! I also have minivan issues. I don't really want one, but I know it will be a lot better for a family than an suv. Blah, blah. I am excited for all that room you guys have now!

We strap all three of ours in the backseat of our camry for now. I am not sure how much longer that will work as I am thinking that Brooke is going to grow out of her infant carrier soon and will have to upgrade to a convertable one. Anyway I am glad you like your mini-van and that is really cool about the doors. I wonder why that isn't an option on the newer models.
